A small village located in the extreme Southern Caribbean, inhabited by many Jamaican immigrants during the last century were brought to this land to build the railroad, their children and grandchildren. That was Puerto Viejo until the late eighties, when began to arrive at these fabulous beaches of the Caribbean, both Europeans and North Americans attracted by what the world began to know as the Switzerland of Central America: Costa Rica.

Totem Hotel is located in Cocles beach just 1,5km from Puerto Viejo of Talamanca, a small village known for its mixture of indios Brì Brì and Caribbean black culture, sheltered by Gandoca-Manzanillo natural reserve on the brink of the Panamanian border.

All the wonders of primordial tropical paradise can be found here: palm trees swinging on tranquil beaches, the tones of purple, orange and red merging into the sea at sunset, accompanied by a soundtrack of reggae, calypso music and exotic birdsong.
